SafePoints Syringe Exchange

Free Sterile Syringe Access and Disposal . Other safe injection supplies & resources available.

Promoting disease reduction among IDU’s. The act of exchange also promotes disease reduction in the community as a whole (i.e.: emergency personnel, waste management, parks & rec., etc.) by keeping used syringes out of garbage, sewers, parks, gutters, etc. When people come in to exchange syringes we are able to connect them to other services such as detox, medical & mental health care, disease testing and more.

Overdose Prevention & Response Training (Naloxone distribution)

Training opiate users, their friends and family on how to avoid an overdose, how to recognize one, and how to respond with calling 911, rescue breathing, and use of Naloxone.

*addressing the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S. – opioid overdose

 Education, Response and Access (ERA)

Targeted education and services for injection drug users, with an emphasis on new young (under 30) injectors.  Vein care, abscess avoidance, overdose prevention & response, disease education testing, medical and mental health information, AOD referrals and assistance in accessing treatment with in person support for individuals attempting to access Sacramento County AOD System of Care

Free clinic MOST Saturdays – located at 3647 40th Street @ 12th Ave. – (Sign up @ 12:00pm)
provided by UC Davis Med Students & Overseen by a Medical Doctor

Ryan White Medical Case Management

Assisting people living with HIV/AIDS in access to services regarding medical, social, mental health, drug/alcohol services, housing, transportation and food.


Mobile van at various locations throughout the greater Sacramento region

  • Distribution of Survival Supplies (Food, Hiegene, Water, non-prescription medications)
  • Providing syringe exchange & HIV/HCV Testing
  • Risk Reduction Education and referals
  • Meeting people where they are to increase harm reduction in hard to reach communities (Call (916) 24-SAFE-5 for locations & times)
  • Condom & Lube Distribution
